i think it is again time to update this blog. as you can see, for the past few days there hasn't been anything as it has actually taken this long to try and get the rendering of the fabrics and making sure the shading is perfect etc. not to mention only being taught layer masks on THIS THURSDAY'S class .
i must say however, learning about the layer masks has made things so much faster and easier but still super time consuming with trying to make the fabrics on the outfits look like what they would look like if it were real .
i have only done four out of the eight... and it's taken me four days... i'm not going to make it :'[
result ____
hopefully they are working, as i have adjusted the colors many times and so far it is what looks best .

refinements _ outfit seven
learning about layer masks and utilising them was A TOTAL DISASTER. i got way confused and it took me ages to try and work out how to do it. but finally it was achieved. it seems to be working that's for sure... but i feel like it just took way too long .
anyway, apart from that.
four hours later ____
ugh, and still . not . finished . . .

experimentation _ more fabric swatches
today has been quite hectic, i went to global fabrics and looked around for some winter weight coat fabrics and was satisfied with the result. there were some very nice fabrics...but i couldn't afford to buy a whole lot which meant that i just got some samples. i also found some orange fabrics that i could possibly use also, along with the orange yarn that i have previously worked with .
i also found organic cotton which was FANTASTIC !!! i would have bought some to work with however, they only had dull blues and browns where i am wanting to work with a white. i have a substitute fabric to make the prototypes with, but my designs would be made out of the organic cotton if it were 'real life' you could say .

refinements _ concept board
finalising my concept board and tidying bits and pieces up for it as it is probably about time to do that. also in class yesterday a very valid point came up ... what is my point of difference ??!! i didn't have one but the teacher suggested that because my concept is about melting ice caps due to global warming, i could consider the effects on the environment ... which i have kind of and my whole aim is for the issue to be a lighter approach, to inform and have fun rather than to stress out and die .
and she mentioned that i could look into sustainable fabrics etc. i think this could be quite a fantastic idea, and so i will look into it, but what i am doing is considering paper stock which is recycled to make a difference in that aspect for now. i choose this idea as advertising on print is generally very cheap if the quality i mass produced and harmful chemicals are used to "whiten" the paper. i want to utilise recycled natural paper in my boards as i do not know if i will be able to find organic cottons etc. i will try but we'll see .
anyway, i have attached my concept board on white paper and what it could possibly look like if it was to be printed on an off white recycled stock .

concept board _ recycled paper stock ____
the size remains at standard a3 however the shape inside is ragged and i have chosen to not full flush print it. my collection and concept is about shapes and excitement and i believe that if it is all to the edges and standard, it will not be as exciting :]
that is all i have for now .

refinements _ sheer skirt color
okay... so posting everything i do... seems a little ridiculous... i don't even know if i should be uploading the tiny miniscule adjustments i am making. but then if i don't, what am i to do ??!! so i guess i am just going to do these ones and then i will upload everything else together. such as each of the outfits .
it would be so nice to get a second opinion on everything but it is probably too late for that and plus it feels like there is still so much to do but not enough time to finish everything !!! -freaking out right now-
and also SO MANY COLOR COMBINATIONS THAT I MUST TRY THEM OUT BEFORE CHOOSING A FINAL. just so much to consider .
however this is my sheer skirt design that i am working on, a comparison of the outline and the non outline. actually, after looking at it all this time, i think i like the second one. it gives a lighter, more care free feeling whereas the first one is quite dark and depressing .
sorted _ awesome _ NEXT !

refinements _ sweater color
finally starting on some color. i have been waiting for this chance for so long. i mean i could have done it ages ago when i started with the conceptualizing of each of the garments, but i'm glad i've left it until now as i can experiment heaps with this .
i know i should be 'rendering' the fabrics in for the desired effect but for the original line up, the images are going to be small and the outfits smaller that you won't really be able to see the difference anyway unless you magnify the fabric to show that it is woven or knitted etc the overall look is much realistic. i mean, unless the design shows that from far away you can see the exact details then yes, that should be done. such as chunky knits or huge prints etc .
at the moment anyway, this is what i have done. a sweater with two variations of color, i could go on but i think these two are the best. i just can't decide on one . . .
i think i may work on some fabric prototypes on this garment just to test. soon .
